Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program

Community Futures Triple R Corporation provides, in addition to Community Development services, Business Development services and administers small business investment funds. The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) is designed to help rural western Canadians with disabilities gain easier access to business training and development; mentoring and one-on-one counseling services; and financial assistance in their pursuit of self employment and entrepreneurship.

Am I eligible?

The EDP program is open to entrepreneurs who meet the following criteria:

  • Have been unsuccessful in acquiring funding for business from other sources

  • Are disabled due to physical or mental impairment

  • Reside or intend to reside in the Triple R region

  • Plan to start a business or are a current small business owner

Is this a grant?

No. Triple R will only consider loans, loan guarantees or equity participation.

What is the maximum I can borrow?

The maximum amount that can be loaned is $150,000. However, it should be noted that the majority of proposals considered would be for smaller amounts. All funding is repayable with interest rates equivalent to prime plus 2%.

How much equity do I require?

A minimum of 10% equity is required, although business and personal collateral may be requested to secure the financing provided.

How Can I apply?

The staff of Community Futures Triple R will assist you in determining if you are eligible, completing an application and preparing a business plan. Information regarding this program is also available on a PC diskette and audio cassette.

How long will it take to make a decision?

The board meets once a month and, upon receiving an individual’s completed application and business plan, a decision can generally be given within 30 days.
